During September I have fished and tagged 397 graylings and 2 brown trouts. Average catch was 8 fishes per hour. Average lenght: 32,9 cms. 5 graylings from the tagging project in September 2005 were recaught. All together 404 fishes were registerated. See statistics above. The tagging took place from Fossnakken and 2 kms downstream in the central part of the fly zone. The tagged graylings from 2005 were all recaught in the same area as they were tagged the first time. 4 of them (25 - 28 cms in 2005) had grown from 10 to 12 cms. One had grown from 38 to 41 cms during the same period. This shows that a +40 cms grayling is at least 10 years! I also have a feeling that on this part of the river, not all graylings reach the lenght of 40 cms even if they could be 15 years old. This summer we registrated a grayling tagged in 2001 (27 cms) now was 35 cms! This grayling must be at least 14 years old. Another recatch this summer from 2001 (25 cms) had grown to 45 cms. They were both recaught in the same area as they were tagged 11 years ago. Studies have shown that grayling in this river can reach the age of 20 years.

February & March

Project "Vänerlaxens fria gång"

The Swedish and Norwegian Departments of envoronment are now cooperating on the issue "Vänerlaxens fria gång". The goal is to save this very rare and unique relict salmon from extermination. There are documents from the 11th century indicating that up to 200 000 kgs were caught every year at that time in this river system. At the moment Swedish and Norwegian experts are doing a lot of investigations to find the best methods for success. External experts from the USA and Canada are also involved. Please find more about this project on this link "Vänerlaxens fria gång"

Oct/Nov* Fishing with friends. Average 7 fishes per hour!

2011 has been a difficult summer for the fishermen. The waterlevel was 40 to 100 cms over the normal more or less all the time and in short periods even much higher. This phenomena made the access to fishingspots difficult and the fishing very challenging. We had difficult fishing conditions also in 2010, but this season has been even worse. Compare with statistics on the "News 2010" page. Let's hope we'll have a "normal" summer again 2012! Best fishing was from the middle of October and November, but there were no tourists here in that period of time. However, I had good fishing with friends that period. See statistics above "Oct/Nov*"
