Compared with the statistics below (2002 - 2004) we can see that the fishing this
year has not been so good. June was cold with high water. July was warm and the
water temperature was too high. In August we got too high water again. September
and October were very good months even if the water in periods was high. November
seem to be the ultimate month for the biggest graylings. statistic below. The November
figures are not included in the statistic abowe.

This year I was tagging fish again in September and October, like I did in 2001
(statistics below). These fishes are very accurately measured and registrated. According
to these figures, which I consider very reliable, the percentage of graylings over
35 cms within the flyzone has incresed from 19,5 till 36,6 since 2001. These tagged
fishes are not included in the statistics from 2005 above.

November
22nd of November
Water flow 75 m3/s this morning. Water temp 0,8 C degrees. Because of cold weather
I've not been fly fishing since November 10th. As the air temp had gone up to minus
1 C degree today, I took a chance and drowned my czech nymphs again. It was fantastic!
After one hour I could not feel my toes any longer and had to stop fishing, but
during that session I hooked 15 graylings up to 42 cms! See the photo gallery page.
21st of November
Water flow 80 m3/s also this morning. Water temp 0,5 C degrees.
18th of November
Water flow 90 m3/s this morning. Water temp 0 C degrees. Cold weather down to minus
10 C degrees last week and no flyfishing since 10th of November. I am at the moment
preparing for next season, clearing the paths along the banks, making new signposts
and so on.

perhaps a bit shocked by the temerature fall. Fishing conditions on the lower part

9 C degrees. In spite of rising water and not so good fishing conditions, Arto Pyykkö,
Peter and Tomas Slepicka (all Swedish) landed 20 graylings today. 9 of them were
+35 cms. Gold heads were their choice. I did not fish today, but I would have preferred

cms. Czech nymphs as usual, pink and olive green.
30th of August
Water flow down to 95 m3/s this morning. Water temp 13 C degrees. In spite of quite
good conditions, the fishing was very bad this evening. Only the smaller ones were
interested in my flies. I'll make a new attempt tomorrow morning.
24th of August

are not good, but never the less, I landed 5 czech nymph graylings before noon to
day.
11th of August
More rain has brought the water flow up again to 145 m3/s this morning. Less rain
is predicted from now on and I expect that the flow will go down again quite fast
the comming days.
10th of August
What goes up, must come down! Water flow down to 115 m3/s this morning.
9th of August
The water flow is up to 145 m3/s this morning. The flow has culminated and the graylings
will see my czech nymphs again this evening. Report is comming tonight. Two graylings
landed and a few other contacts shows that they are eating again. The water is still
a little coloured, but in a couple of days conditions will be better again. Watertemp:
14 C degrees.
8th of August
The flow is up to 135 m3/s this morning. There will not be so heavy rain the comming
days, but the flow will go up to aprox 150 before it stops I think. Fishing conditions
at the moment are only for those who want to get away from something....
7th of August
It's been raining for two days now and the flow was 93 m3/s this morning. Tomorrow
I'm afraid the figure will be much higher. Bad fishing conditions in the river at
the moment.
6th of August
Water flow 64 m3/s. Water temp down to 15 C degrees this morning. Between 08.30 and
10.30 this morning, I landed 21 czech nymph graylings on the lower part of the fly zone.

fly zone since Sunday 31.07.
July
31st of July
Water flow 65 m3/s, which also is near the normal for this time of the season. Water temp
18 C degrees this afternoon. Fishing conditions are good. When the water temp now
comes down to 15 C degrees the fishing conditions will be very good! Cloudy weather
and a rain shower this afternoon made the fishing better than we have had for some
time. Hans Molin landed graylings 40 and 42 cms with a "Europa 12", yellow body.
I landed a few "czech nymph" graylings on the upper part of the flyzone between
6 and 7 o'clock PM.
24th of July
Water flow 75 m3/s, which is normal for the time beeing. Water temp 17 C degrees.
No good fishing last week. However, the rain Friday night brought the water temperature
down again and fishing on Saturday (23 rd) was better again. Fishing conditions
are good.
17th of July
Water flow 68 m3/s which is a little belowe the normal level for this time of the
year. Heavy rain last night brought the water temp down from 20 C degrees yesterday
to 17 C degrees today. The rain lifted the the water level a little and the graylings
also obviously found the lower water temperature more pleasant. With Czech nymphs
I hooked 6 graylings around noon today. There were also some risings so dry fly would
have worked too. The weather forecast indicates that fishing conditions the comming
days will be good.
10th of July
Water flow 75 m3/s which is the average for this time of the year. The water temp
was this afternoon 20 C degrees. The fishing was OK till Thursday and the MOUNTAIN
MEDIA staff had nice fishing before noon that day, but the rest of the week the
water temp has been too high. The weather forecast says that we shall have warm weather
also the comming days and the fishing will not be better again till we get colder
weather.
3rd of July
Water flow 90 m3/s. Water temp 17 C degrees. Fishing and wading conditions are good.
From now on, nightfishing also will be very interesting.
2nd of July
Water flow 93 m3/s. Water temp 16 C degrees. FJÄLLORNA had great success with their
dry flies and the fishing became better and better throughout the day and culminated
in the evening with splashing fish everywhere. Biggest fish hooked by Åsa Bertilsson,
grayling 42 cms. Danica imitations and hatchers seemed to be the best choice.
1st of July
Water flow 96 m3/s this morning. Water temp 16 C degrees. The water is still above
the average level compared with normal, but the fishing conditions are beginning
to be quite good. The Danica is hatching at the moment. 12 members of the Swedish
fishing club, FJÄLLORNA, is visiting Gjerfloen Flyfishing this weekend. See the
photo gallery page.
June
26th of June
Water flow 105 m3/s this morning. Water temp 15 C degrees. We have still not had real
warm summer weather. Dry fly fishing last week was quite good even if the water still
is high for this time of the year. The "heptagonia sulphurea" is flying at the moment.
The "Green Drake" has not been observed here so far, but it will turn up the comming
week.
19th of June
Water flow up to 147 m3/s again yesterday, 142 m3/s this morning. Water temp 13 C
degrees. Fishing last week was up and down. Wednesday and Thursday were the best
days.Thursday, Anders Ryderling landed 27 graylings on the fly zone, most of them
between 30 and 40 cms. Friday, during the competition, brown trouts 48 and 52 cms
were landed on Landsjøen. Warmer weather is predicted the comming week. If the weather
prophets turn out to be right, week 25 might be one of the best fishing week this
season!
12th of June
Water flow down to 133 m3/s this morning. Water temp 11 C degrees. Nymph fishing yesterday
morning was not so good, but some grayligs were landed (see photo gallery). Later
in the afternoon dry fly fishing was more successfull. Emergers seemed to be the
best choice. Last night and today we it's raining and the flow will go up again.
10th of June
Water flow down to 140 m3/s this morning. Sunny weather, but cold wind from the north
again today and not so good fishing conditions as yesterday.
9th of June
Water flow down to 148 m3/s this morning. Water temp 10 c degrees. Landed a couple
of graylings between 30 and 35 cms this morning, czech nymphs, but it was obvious
that they were more interested in food near the surface, probabely emergers. I didn't
try dry fly, but I think a Klinkhammer would have been the good choice.
8th of June
Water flow down to 156 m3/s this morning. Better weather today. Lots of graylings
were rising at 5 o'clock this afternoon. I'll let them see my flies tomorrow before
noon. My first "summer brown trout" at Landsjøen this evening (see photo gallery).
6th of June
Water flow down to 180 m3/s this morning. Weather reports suggest that the cold weather
will keep on the rest of the week.
5th of June
Water flow down to 190 m3/s this morning. Water temp 9 C degrees. Strong wind from
north and therefore no good fishing conditions today. No vulgata observed on Landsjøen
so far. It will turn up the comming week.
4th of June
Water level down 10 cms since June 2nd. The rainy and cold weather never seems to
come to an end, but nevertheless, the water temp was up to 9 C degrees this afternoon.
Czech nymphing gave me 4 graylings, two of them between 35 and 40 cms.
2nd of June
In spite of cold wind from the north, the graylings started rising at Plassen this
afternoon! No reports from the power station to day, but the river has dropped about
10 cms since yesterday.
1st of June
Water flow a little bit down, 230 m3/s this morning. The cold weather we have had
for a long time, seems to continue and fishing conditions are not good. But, - the
fish are eating and the question is as always; Right strategy and methods!

23rd of May
This weekend we finally had warmer weather which generated snow melting in the mountains.
The water level has gone up 50 cm since Friday and will reach it's higest level by
the end of the week. 220 m3/s this morning. I therfore guess that we shall see the
first rising graylings in the middle of week 22.
18th of May
We have had a cold spring and there are still a lot of snow in the mountains. This
means that we might get a more normal summer this year than we had the two previous
years. My guess is that we shall have top hatching week 25 and 26 in this area.
Last year week 24 was best, but we had a very early spring in 2004.
8th of May
The ice on the Trysil River disappared 3 weeks ago and the first contacts with the
"fly graylings" have been made. The snow melting in the mountains will make the water level
going up and reach the top in about ten days from now. From the 25th of May we shall
look for rising graylings, but at the moment we are still ice fishing! See the photo gallery
page. |
